I can give online mending advice!  I am the queen of patching jeans.  :)

Also, a fair decent sewperson, if I say so myself.

If all members contributed one square, perhaps bring them to a Pugalug or mail them in even?  Then someone has the massive job of piecing them all together and sewing up the rest?  Still looking for an old Singer, so I'd have to hand sew something.

That would be one big quilt!!  For this project I'm hoping for 12, 12"  blocks.  Who knows, it might get bigger and that would be fantastic!!  I don't mind doing the putting together part either.

Deb
Put all the exact requirements up for everyone, including mode of retrieval and due date, then  see what they come up with? Perhaps all the pieces can even be posted individually for everyone online to see even before the lengthy job of putting it all together begins?  A way for everyone to contribute! Great idea you had!  :D

I am looking for 12 x 12 ( please don't trim them, I will ) sewn  blocks. That means the blocks will be about 12.24 - 13 " squareish before they are trimmed.  Whatever pattern you are most happiest and comfortable doing will be perfect.  It will be ecclectic for sure, that will be part of its beauty. When we have the completed blocks done, very easy to mail then I'll do all the lattice etc. to put it together and the final quilting.  There will be a block sewn on the back with the names of all the quilters, dates too.  This could be a lot of fun!!!

Deb

Would the finished blocks be mailed to Pugalug or can they be dropped off at upcoming Pugalugs? Also, would it be possible to post a pic of one as an example for others, especially those doing it for the first time? Any specific theme from the obvious?

A great community project, that's sure to be fun and be able to help a LOT of pugs too!   :D

Quote from a message Deb sent to me:

"If we could get all the squares mailed to my by the end of October then that would give me time to get 'er done . Depending on how it all looks I might get it longarmed too.

**** BTW I'm not insisting on the square all being pugs, traditional blocks are always welcome **** "

here is a rendering of what Deb is looking for in a quilted square:
[attachment=0:2klve8tz]quilt patch size.jpg[/attachment:2klve8tz]
hope this visual helps everyone to understand the concept that Deb is looking for!

Good luck everyone who volunteers! This is going to be a phenominal quilt once done Smiley

ps I did this quickly and it is definitely not to scale ;)

Okay Deb--I'll get started on a square.  I tend to do a fair bit of applique rather than piecing (yes, I'm impatient).

Thanks for the example, I'm sure it'll help out many (myself included.)  I got a few ideas myself now...  Is mailing the only option?

Debra, PM Deb to see if she will be at any Events coming up; prior to the end of October and see if a pick up could be arranged!
Or, if you or anyone else has a qulited piece done, I can pick it up at an event and mail it along with my piece Smiley

I'll be at Pugoween for sure and hope to make it to Pawsway later this month. Hope to have the piece made by then, for it'll have to be hand sewn, even the edges, which will take time.   I'll try though.
