Hi Everyone!

I am the newbie pet of a 14 week old Pug named Ripley and 2 felines Chinadoll and Marble.  Ripley has certainly changed things in our house since her gotcha day a month ago!!

She has now started puppy school as her chewing is out of control.  Furniture has now become no exception for her.  Any thoughts as to anything else I can do to keep her from chewing everything else except the chew toys would be appreciated!

Thanks!

As the auntie of a pug-a-tzu named Ripley, Welcome!

I have to second this.
They ALL pretty much chew...but most catch on pretty quickly about what the appropriate chew toys are.....persistence is the key (and never letting them out of your sight!)

containment, redirection and consistency will win the day......eventually.  If you can't keep your eye on them, then put them someplace safe--crate, X-pen or gated room with no off limit chewables.  Get a wide variety of chewable and don't place them all out at once.  Switch them up every week or two so that they keep seeming new to the puppy.  Kong toys, tartar bones, nylabones are just a few.  It will take months before your puppy gets the "no chew" message and they will backslide everytime they have new teeth coming in.
And puppies will chew anything including electrical cords.  They are babies and have baby brains. So expect lots of time and patience to be required.

And welcome

Ditto to what was said above.  There are products out like Bitter Apple and Bitter Yuck that you can spray on things so they taste bad and the puppy won't chew them but I haven't heard of anyone having much success with the stuff.  My boy seemed to treat it as a garnish.

Welcome! Smiley

Welcome to the forum, Ripley, Mom and kitties!

Puppies will be puppies Wink
They are as, all have advised, so far; just babies and need us to redirect them
when they are into something. As they start to gain their adult teeth,
as Blanche advised, they will chew on anything in sight.
So as with a toddler, you have to puppy proof the house until about 1 or 2yrs old Wink
or maybe even longer depending on Ripley's personality Wink

Have fun, buy lots of chewies, cuddle lots and just enjoy the puppy time Smiley
