There were four in the bed
And the humans said.....

For heaven's sakes, you bunch of bed hogs, make some room for me!!!

They've left a little room! You may have to be a contortionist to fit in though. It's always fun, getting up in the middle of the night and trying not to disturb the true owners of the bed!
Now that I'm back to three pugs and a cat, it seems like tons more room. Emi was small, but her presence was huge!

Yes, I usually also have the pugcat to contend with who doesn't feel truly comfortable until he's stretched completely across the bed.

I think they are being very considerate, there is a huge L-shaped space for you, what more could you want.

Maude was back in the big bed last night but we both will need to get used to it again. I woke up at 4:30 on my side with her sleeping on my shoulder and arm. Unfortunately I was rolling over when I discovered her there and it was too late to prevent her from falling off.

Oh no!  Did she roll off your arm or off the bed?

When I was sick a while ago, I was very tempted to bring one of my snugglers to bed with me but I was terrified they'd fall off the edge...our bed is very high.

She fell in the small space between the bed and night table. It is not big enough for her to fall to the ground but she did get wedged in and I had to retrieve her.

I used to have a very high bed many years ago when I had my dachshund, he never slept with me for the same reason you don't have yours in bed with you.

I'm sorry Maude...I know I shouldn't laugh at your mishap, but I DID.  I'm glad that she didn't get hurt though!!!

First thing that came to my mind was a song a used to sing to my kids.
There were four in a bed
And the little one said
"Roll over, roll over"
So they all rolled over
And one fell out.......

Between the picture and poor Maude's mishap the song came to me.

Great minds think alike--that was the song I was using for the post--except in my day we sang it as "there were 10 in the bed and the little one said "roll over" so they all rolled over and one fell out"

They only stay spread out like that until I get in then everyone piles on or near me.

Cash had a similar fate to Maude the other night when he was between my legs and I rolled over not realizing he was there and flung him out of the bed.  I felt so bad, I was up in a flash, lights on fetching him.  He was a little stunned and then of course I felt so bad I had to coddle him in bed so there went another night's sleep.

A couple weeks ago I woke up on Saturday morning to Rosie snoring quite loudly.  I then realized that the volume was so high because she was resting her chin on the side of my face!  There is no such thing as too close for her.  Wrapped around my head is one of her favourites....

I think we may be heading to a king size bed soon, to help minimize the middle of the night issues.

From the time Winnie was a puppy she slept in the big bed with me. And then we got Sasha who knew nothing about big beds but once she figured out the joy of sleeping in a big bed our genteel Winnie's life changed. Sasha has no sense of bed manners with regard to personal space or boundaries. Many nights when Winnie gets settled in bed Sasha will move closer to Winnie and plop down with her bum right near Winnie's face. Winnie gives me a look of utter disgust. The redeeming thing about Sasha is that she doesn't discriminate. Sometimes she does the same thing to me. It's all of these little Pug ways that are so endearing.

Poor Cash,  not a fun way to wake up for either of you.

Maude ended up a couple of times on the floor when she first got to sleep in the big bed. I kept worrying that I was pushing her out until I realized if the comforter hangs close or over the edge she thinks it is still solid underneath and unfortunately steps on it.
