One of the great rescue women is in the ICU in California.  Her name is Roxane Fritz and she is the guiding light and spirit of PugSavers.  She has been a champion for pugs and especially senior pugs for years.  It is through her that Pugalug eventually ended up with Jake and Betsy (a remarkable story if you haven't read it).

You can read about the remarkable work PugSavers has been doing and Roxane in particular at
www.pugsavers.com

She is very, very ill and is on life support.  She is only 51.

She has been an internet friend and support to many of us and we are all sitting a vigil for her right now.

Your prayers, thoughts, meditations and good wishes are needed.

OMG, I just found out about this (I've been out of the loop for a couple of days) and it took my breath away.  I consider Roxane a very dear friend and a shining example of ethical rescue.  She has been through so much in the last few months with her own chronic health issues and the loss of both Bailey and Tiny Tim.  She's can't give up yet because her book hasn't been published and there are so many more pugs needing to be rescued in northern California.

The most recent updates are somewhat hopeful.  She is a bit responsive.  Still a long road ahead, but she's holding her own for now.

ETA:  Sadly, the last update isn't good.  she's taken a turn for the worse and the type of pancreatitis she has has a high mortality rate.  A friend and fellow rescuer is bringing her black pug girl, Betty, to visit her.
