I'm so sorry old Sal is struggling today.  Let's hope for strength and great news for the wee fella.  Lots of hugs and positive vibes from the Pugpillow gang.

Hey Salvador, think positive thoughts - like Colleen and Paul's pedicure table at the Pugalugs. Keep comfortable, rest easy. You have lots of friends thinking of you at this time - including us.
So sorry to read this Candace. Please keep you spirits up.

We're heading to the vets, shortly. He still hasn't peed. That' over 24 hours. He managed dinner, though and a huge drink of water.
I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all the positive thoughts.

Salvador got some anti-inflammatory meds to go with his pain meds. We can increase the dosage of pain meds too. The vet said she thinks it is neurological, not a stroke. But, the only way to tell if it is a stroke is to do an MRI. It wouldn't change the treatment. If it is neurological, it is just a worsening of his spinal problems. He could improve, but that is uncertain. So we just have to wait and see if he improves with rest and the anti-inflammatory.
She couldn't get him to empty his bladder and said if he didn't pee by tomorrow, we would have to come back for further tests. Luckily, I just did another attempt and he did a huge pee.
He did seem stressed and is sleeping now. The dementia really affects his reactions, but he may be in pain. He is a tough dog and rarely shows signs of pain, even when you know he is suffering.

Some very good news that Salvador peed and is resting Candace. Sending thoughts of comfort and healing to Salvador from Winnie, Sasha and me. And to you Candace, hope you too can take some solace in Salvador's ability to rest and experience less discomfort.

I don't really know anything about Salvador's spinal issues but just wondering if physio, massage or chiropractic help with his sorts of issues?

Thank goodness he finally peed!!! His over full bladder must have been very uncomfortable. I hope this means the extra pain meds are working and allowed him to relax enough to be able to go. We've got our fingers and paws crossed hoping that the anti-inflamatory meds wll help too!

Isn't having a pee a great relief?  Especially if it's by one of our non-peeing pugs?Huh?  Seriously, I'm very glad to hear he had a pee and got some anti-inflammatories.    Here's hoping some rest and the meds will see him back on the right track very soon.  Hugs to you both.

How is Salvador doing today?  Is he feeling any better with the medication and cooler weather?
