Ada went in for her eye surgery this morning and we just got word - she came through like a champ.  She is now resting comfortably and Nick can pick her up and bring her home at about 3pm.  Yay!

Now for 2 weeks of a crazy cone-head, because you KNOW Ada isn't going rest and relax without a butterfly net and a tranquilizer gun, lol!

What great news for Ada and her family. The cone will be a distant memory before you know it.

Well Ada is home now and VERY pathetic.  She spent a good deal of time being listless and whimpering but was very good for her first round of medications.  She has to be in the cone 24/7 for two weeks and keep quiet.  No running, no playing, no wrestling, no chewies, no stairs, no jumping.  Just gentle walks for potty breaks and lots of rest.  She is on pain meds that have a sedative in them so hopefully keeping her calm won't be too much of a problem.  She has her appetite back and was nonplussed at the meager helping of dinner she was allowed but is now curled up sleeping with Nick.  She is not bouncing back so far as she did with the lumpectomy - this time she is really hurting poor love.  There is much groaning and the occasional whimper.  At least she is adjusting to the cone fairly well.   sigh.  spoke too soon.  She just started trying to get it off as I typed that.  Oh dear.

Melvin and Ada would make a great team as he is doing just the same! Hopefully Darwin is leaving her alone. Pinky is tormenting Melvin I might have to put a cone on her as well. Speedy recovery Ada!

Sigh.  Darwin keeps trying to "help" by licking her face.  Since a cone won't stop him from doing that I am threatening to make him his own Hannibal Lector face mask.

I am just catching up now on the posts - poor Ada. I am glad she came through it like a champ and I hope she manages okay with the cone. I will be thinking of her and sending positive thoughts.

Cones are such a pain, literally to human's legs! The foam edged ones are a lifesaver. Two weeks isn't too bad, in the world of conedom. I always think of cones as funnels that attract things....licking tongues, branches and other undesirables.

This is going to be a long two weeks.  Ada is feeling more like herself and so is fighting us every step of the way with drops, pills, rest, everything.  sigh.  And Darwin is now afraid of the cone and keeps trying to climb my leg to get away.  The whole night long they did this little dance - Darwin settles down somewhere to sleep, Ada comes and tries to curl up with him, Darwin is afraid of the conehead and so gets up and moves elsewhere, repeat all night long until finally around dawn Darwin jumps off the bed in dismay to sleep on the floor.  Oy.
