Good to hear that he doesn't seem any worse for the wear ... and hopefully it doesn't change his attitude towards playtime or hanging out with other dog groups.  Let's hope in this situation that young dogs are like kids in this regard, who bounce right back from stuff like this and don't even give it a second thought.

Happy to hear Dave is home and doing well. If he does start to be strange around other dogs make sure you get some help with that right away.

Holey crap Davey, what happened?!?
Like you said Amanda, Dave is not the type to start a fight. I wonder if he just got caught in the crossfire of a fight between some other dogs?  I guess what happened isn't really important just that he wasn't hurt more seriously.
Emily and Andrew must be pretty upset...at least they didn't see it happen, that would be really awful!
Hugs and kisses from me to all of you  Kiss

I'm hoping the same with regard to bouncing back.....I remember Andrew got bitten at daycare when he was 18 months and the staff watched him and made sure he was separated from the child who bit him for a while afterwards.

Jane,
I'm sure you are right about him getting caught in the crossfire.....when is Dave not always where the action is??!!  He and Pugsley are playing as usual and I don't think he is even aware of the stitches now.  The dog that bit him was a cross beagle/bulldog from what I understand and so I will be vigilant in watching how he is responding to other dogs and we will make sure if there is any concern to get advice right away.

PS I LOVE the new avatar of Maude!!!!

The dog I had before Maude got bitten when he was about 1 year and he became fearful. I didn't know much at the time (still don't) but I didn't deal with his fear and he became a bitter himself. I think Dave has a much more balanced personality to begin with though, which will help.

I love that picture of Maude to but I didn't take it and am not sure who did (Larry might have). It is from Pug Island and I need to give credit to the proper person. So many of the pictures I take of her look like she just turned to stone - this one she looks so happy (and crazy) - it's great.

Yep it's an awesome shot of Maude!

i think Dave will do fine if he's already playing with Pugsley like nothing happened ... especially if it was wrong place at the wrong time that led to the bite.  He'll probably just think twice before jumping into the confusion ... or not. Cheesy

Some dogs remember, but others don't care. Salvador was picked up and shaken by a husky. He had puncture wounds. When the dog dropped him, Salvador turned and tried to attack the husky! He didn't react, to other big dogs, after that happened. Well, he does sometimes now, but that is his CDS.
Mookie was attacked by a different husky and he only reacts to that particular husky. We only saw her once, since she injured his eye. It was 6 months later and Mookie wouldn't take any crap from her.
Hopefully, Dave will be as playful and trusting as ever!

I'm thinking Dave is in the "don't care" category.......what is your assessment on the "playful and trusting"?

PS This was taken after a 45 minute walk!
And yes, we do need to cut our grass...but Dave LOVES long grass to roll in!!

Dave is looking pretty recovered from"the incident" It is so wonderful that the two of them have each other and play so well together. What a pair.
