FINNEGAN - 1 YEAR OLD MALE
STATUS: IN FOSTER CARE
FOSTER UPDATE - JANUARY 3, 2025
Finnegan had a wonderful holiday season, soaking up all the extra snuggle time with his foster mom. Finn is still learning to feel comfortable around new people. He tends to bark when meeting someone for the first time, but time and a steady supply of treats are helping him gain confidence. He is becoming more accustomed to cats. While he does chase them, it seems like it is more playful curiosity rather than aggression. This little guy loves car rides! However, he’s a lap sitter by nature, so a seatbelt harness is essential to keep everyone safe on the road. Finn has some impressive jumping skills—he’s managed to hop onto tables and counters! His foster mom is working on curbing this behaviour, but it’s hard not to believe he’s part bunny! The humping behaviour he exhibited when he first arrived has stopped, and Finnegan and his foster brother are now best buddies, spending hours playing and enjoying each other’s company. Finn is scheduled for his neuter surgery next week and we are hoping for a speedy recovery. Stay tuned for more updates!
INTRODUCTION - DECEMBER 6, 2024
Meet Finnegan! Finn had a great first night in his foster home! While he wasn’t a fan of the crate for bedtime, he was more than happy to snuggle up on the bed—and he slept peacefully through the night. He’s definitely a snuggle pug! Dinner went smoothly, and he had no trouble drinking water. Finn wasted no time making himself comfortable in his new surroundings. He already knows the “sit” command, but we haven’t seen other commands just yet. Finn does pull on the leash a bit, but he was so excited last night that we’ll assess how to help him improve as he settles in. When it comes to the cats, Finn has been curious, giving them a sniff here and there, but he hasn’t shown any signs of aggression. Our resident pug is adjusting to sharing the spotlight with Finn. With Finn’s puppy-like energy, the older pug suddenly seems like a senior! We’re confident they’ll build a strong bond once they spend more time together. Overall, it was a successful first night for Finn and his new pug buddy!
