FOSTER UPDATE - JUNE 6, 2O25

Lady Maya the Pug, the Cutest Pug in the World.

Good day to all admirers, It is I — Lady Maya the Pug, Queen of the Couch and undisputed Empress of Adorableness. I write once more from my stately foster castle, where I continue to reign with charm, grace, and a touch of sass. I continue to enjoy my new foster home and am feeling right at home — as if this castle were built just for me. I follow my new foster mom everywhere she goes and even assist her with her exercises — although, between us, I mostly observe with a supportive gaze from the nearest cozy spot.

I am, of course, on a strict dietary regimen befitting someone of my delicate constitution. My special kibble is absolutely divine and helps prevent those pesky struvite crystals from causing any trouble in my regal bladder system. As you are aware, I’m currently taking an allergy pill as a precaution, but this fabulous new food may allow me to bid it farewell soon. And guess what? No UTIs. No ear infections. Clearly, this Queen is thriving. I believe I shall extend my stay in this delightful palace for another month or two — just long enough to be sure the allergy pill is no longer needed and that my royal urine tests remain splendid. Until next time, I remain your devoted and dashing Lady.

FOSTER UPDATE - MAY 3, 2025

Time for a Lady Maya life update!

🐾 Hello adoring fans, it's me, Lady Maya the Pug, back again with the latest royal dispatch from my fabulous foster life! First things first—I’m healed up and feeling fabulous! My royal subjects (aka the vet people) fixed me up with a spay and a dental, and I bounced back like the champ I am. However… my allergies decided to make a dramatic comeback. Ugh, the audacity! But no worries, I now take one allergy pill a day—and guess what? I LOVE IT. It’s basically a treat. I’m very easy to please, as long as you give me what I want. 😌

That said, I do have another royal appointment coming up—to check on some pesky itchy ear issues that have decided to creep back into my life. Honestly, can a pug catch a break? Now that I'm feeling better, I have discovered…I can run! Like, REALLY run. Zoomies are back on the menu and let me tell you, I am speedy. I love racing around the house, doing laps like I’m training for the Pug Olympics. And when I get excited, which is often, I bark. Loudly. It's just who I am. Call it enthusiasm. Call it zest for life. Call it Maya energy. Either way, I’m not quiet about my feelings. Toys? Meh. Not usually my thing. But one day I was feeling spicy and I gave a stuffed pig a solid five minutes of my time. It squeaked. I gave up. We had a moment.

Now for some real talk: I did get into a bit of a squabble or two with my foster sister. Okay, fine, multiple squabbles. I decided it was time for a change, and off I went to a new foster home. I now live with a foster brother who is a chill pug mix, and we co-exist peacefully. That said, let’s be honest—I would much prefer to be the only dog in the house. I like being the main character. The star. The center of attention. Is that so wrong?

As always, my hobbies include couch cuddling, demanding belly rubs, and being adorable. I’m excellent in the car, a dream on leash, and when I’m out in the wild (aka on walks), I tend to ignore other dogs like the classy lady I am. I am a bit tentative with new people or strange noises—what can I say, I like to stay alert. For example, there was a time when I completely forgot there were people upstairs. So every time they came down, I’d bark like I was sounding the royal alarm. Every. Single. Time. Eventually I figured out they were part of my noble household, and all was well again—but hey, a lady must protect her castle!

That’s the latest from yours truly, Lady Maya the Pug 👑

P.S. Belly rubs are not optional

FOSTER UPDATE - APRIL 4, 2025

Hello there, darling friends! It’s me, Lady Maya the Pug, reporting in with a most delightful foster life update! First things first — I recently had a lady procedure (spay), and I’m healing marvelously, thank you very much. I’ve also had a bit of dental sparkle added to my royal smile. One cracked tooth was removed (ouch!), but while the vet was in there, they polished up the rest of my molars. My grin is positively dazzling now. Now, let’s talk about my mysterious allergies. We're still figuring out what makes my royal skin a little itchy, but for now, I’m being quite brave about it. I’m trying some new foods (bleh — some of them are very boring) and I take my allergy meds like a champ. A proper lady never complains.

Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit zippier — I’ve got more energy in these legs of mine! But my foster mom says we have to take it easy until I’m all healed. I can hardly wait to zoom, bounce, and play like the dainty wildflower I know I am deep down. Oh! Speaking of zooming — walks are the absolute highlight of my day! The leash comes out and suddenly I’m barking, twirling, and racing around the living room like a wind-up toy. I cannot help myself. I sleep in the big bed (where else would a princess rest?), and I adore sleeping in. Please don’t rush me. But once you’re up, I’ll daintily trot out for my morning potty and then I’m ready for a lovely breakfast. Priorities.

I’m also a wonderful road trip companion. Long drives? I snooze like a seasoned traveler. Now, about my foster sister... I think we like each other? Maybe? One moment I want to play, the next I’m not sure. It’s confusing being a lady with feelings. Once I’m fully healed, I’ll meet my foster cousin — a Boston Terrier boy. Then we’ll see if I’m just picky or prefer the company of gentleman dogs. Most importantly: I follow my foster mom everywhere. I am her tiny, snorting, wiggly little shadow. Where she goes, I go. It’s simply the rule. Until next time, Lady Maya

FOSTER UPDATE - MARCH 4, 2025

Hi everyone, it’s Maya checking in! I’ve been settling in so well—no accidents in the house (because I’m a proper little lady)! My heat is all finished, and I recently went to the vet for a checkup. They found an ear infection and a UTI, but don’t worry—I’m on the mend! I’ve also been a little itchy, so we’re trying out some allergy medicine to help with that. The vet called me beautiful, well-behaved, and gentle (which, if you ask me, is completely accurate). I’ll be going back soon for a check-up, and before long, I’ll be ready to be spayed.

In the meantime, I’ve been showing my foster family just how wonderful I am. I’m an excellent passenger in the car—calm, happy, and always ready for an adventure. When my foster family has to leave me at home for a few hours, I don’t mind at all. I wait patiently, behaving like the perfect girl I am. But when they come back? Oh, you know I’m ready for snuggles! I love to cuddle any chance I get, whether it’s curling up beside my humans or sneaking in for extra belly rubs.

I’ve also learned a few new things! During food prep, I now go to the dog bed in the kitchen so I’m not underfoot (even though I could be the best taste-tester). And after much stubbornness, I finally mastered shaking a paw. At first, I didn’t see the point, but then I noticed my foster sister getting treats for it—so, obviously, I had to give it a try!

Speaking of my foster sister, we coexist just fine, though I don’t really want to play with her. I mostly like to do my own thing, but I’ve learned that if she wants to snuggle with Mom, I have to be nice about it… even if I’d rather have all the snuggles for myself. That’s all for now—sending pug snuggles your way! 💖

FOSTER UPDATE - FEBRUARY 8, 2024

Maya has been making great progress! She’s no longer having any accidents in the house, which is a huge win. She even lets us know she has to go with a loud demanding bark. She’s also getting more comfortable with grooming—she even lets me trim her nails now without any fuss.

With the colder weather, I was a bit unsure how she’d react to winter booties, but she doesn’t seem to mind them at all. She absolutely loves going for walks and is surprisingly speedy! She’s fantastic on the leash, keeping up with a nice pace while staying focused.

When it comes to mealtime, she still prefers to graze, but we’re working on getting her to eat two meals a day more consistently. She’s still in heat, so we’re waiting for that to finish before taking her to the vet. Overall, she’s settling in well and continues to show more of her sweet personality every day!

FOSTER INTRODUCTION - JANUARY 27, 2025

Meet Maya, our sweet little 5 year old foster pug with a heart full of potential! This shy and timid girl is still adjusting to her new surroundings, but we’re giving her all the love and patience she needs. Maya had a bit of a restless first night, with a mix of light naps and soft whimpers, letting us know she’s still figuring things out. She’s currently in heat, so she’s rocking an adorable doggy diaper – a little pug fashion statement! There have been a few accidents in the house, but hey, that’s all part of the process as she settles in. Maya may be timid now, but we can’t wait to see her confidence bloom!
