Happy Tail - Maya the Sassy Queen Finds Her Castle 👑

October 19, 2024

When we first read Maya’s adoption profile calling her a “Sassy Queen,” we knew she’d fit right in — and she’s lived up to her royal title in every way!

From the moment she arrived, Maya made herself right at home, confidently hopping onto the big bed and claiming her spot like true pug royalty. She quickly discovered the joys of snuggles and ear scratches, and she’s never met a cozy blanket she didn’t love.

For a girl who “wasn’t known to play,” Maya has surprised everyone — she spends her days running around with her two little human sisters, chasing toys and soaking up every bit of attention. She’s also become a local celebrity at the school bus stop, where she’s greeted each morning by a crowd of fans eager for their daily dose of pug cuddles and tail wags.

Maya loves her walks and approaches each one with enthusiasm (and plenty of sniff breaks). Over Thanksgiving, she joined the family at the cottage, where she got to experience the pure joy of off-leash freedom — bounding through piles of leaves and soaking in the crisp fall air. She wasn’t quite as thrilled about the resident puppy, though, and made sure to remind her who the real queen of the cottage was. 👑

She’s still a little unsure of the big guy in the house and keeps a watchful eye on him — with a few barks here and there to make sure he knows she’s in charge. But every day, she’s relaxing a little more, showing off her sweet, silly side, and reminding us how much love a rescue pup can bring.

Maya may have started her journey as a sassy queen looking for a home, but now she’s found her castle, her people, and her happily ever after. ❤️

424 pugs rescued since 2005.
