MILO - 2 YEAR OLD MALE

STATUS: IN FOSTER CARE.

**Please do not inquire about the availability of any dogs in foster care.  When a dog is ready for adoption, the adoption application process will be posted on our social media **

FOSTER UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 3, 2024

Milo has had a great month. He is on his final dose of liver medication and that should be it. He needs to be rechecked in 6 months just to be on the safe side.

Milo went up north to a cottage for a weekend and had a lot of fun. It was discovered he's not a fan of water and was afraid of the sound of the waves. He's continued to settle in and is a funny little boy.

He is great in the car and still needs to stop and check ALL the pee mail during walks so patience is needed.

FOSTER UPDATE - JULY 28, 2024

Mr. Milo has some good news from his latest vet visit. He has officially gone from Dad-bod to swimsuit ready. He went from 10.3 kgs at intake to a streamlined 8.7 kgs. Lots of running in the backyard and walks have helped.

His liver ALT went from 343 at intake to a healthy 94. Normal is between 18 - 121. All other liver tests are also normal. We may never know what the cause of the high count was, but it could have been an infection. The plan is to continue the Zentonil for 2 more months just to be safe and then it can be discontinued. It's recommended he be tested yearly for his liver.

Urine has also gone from a moderate level of crystals to a very small amount. This could also just be him. His emotional support rat went missing, but we're happy to report it was found behind the couch. Rumor has it that the cat hid it. All in all everything is looking good for Milo!

FOSTER UPDATE- JUNE 15, 2024

Milo is enjoying the nice weather and is doing very well on his weight loss journey.  He has to run “full out” around the backyard when he goes out to check for squirrels.  It's a job he takes very seriously.

He is getting better on leash walks and kicks his back legs when he meets another dog. Don’t know what's up with that. LOL

Milo's liver count from the original bloodwork was very high at 343, normal is 121.  After one month of the medication it was down to 135.  He is currently half way through his second month and will be going to the vet for a recheck.

He continues to be full of energy and is still obsessed with plastic water bottles.  He's not above trying to steal one that is full.

FOSTER UPDATE - MAY 10, 2024

Milo has settled into foster care like a champion. He is clean in the house and goes to the door to let us know he needs to go out. He is enjoying spending time in the yard with the resident pugs.

Milo had his vet check and bloodwork and all looked good until blood results came back. He has a mild increase in the liver enzyme ALT. He doesn't exhibit any lethargy, vomiting, or diarrhea but we are running a leptospirosis blood panel to try to determine the cause.

He is on a 10-day course of antibiotics and a 30-day course of liver support medication. There was also a trace amount of crystals in his urine. Milo will be rechecked after the 10 days of antibiotics to see if there is an improvement in his liver numbers.

FOSTER UPDATE - APRIL 6, 2024

Milo has settled into the routine of his foster home and is doing very well.

He remains clean in the house and loves running around the backyard. He met other dogs (outside of the resident dogs) when I looked after 2 others and he had no issues. He enjoyed having another younger dog to play with and met his match.

He will be going to the vet in the next couple of weeks just for a quick once over. The anxiety he had when he first arrived is almost gone, so I don't want to rush it.

Milo did have to endure the traditional Easter ears.

INTRODUCTION - MARCH 16, 2024

Meet handsome Milo who came into Pugalug Rescue today after a fairly long drive, during which he was a good boy. Not quite two years old yet, he is working on his MPT (Masters in Potty Training). Milo is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. His pre-neuter blood work last summer showed him to be healthy. We will be taking him to the vet to get checked out in a little while. In the meantime we look forward to getting to know this cutie-pie better. Look at that adorable face!!
