Sky is a quintessential velcro pug who loves to be near his pug brother Maverick and likes to be
included in anything that his people are doing. Although he enjoys being picked up and carried,
he is happiest when cuddled up on a person’s lap. He also does the cutest little thing when he
wants attention (or treats). He will reach up to the sky, tilt his head back and take a long pause
for dramatic effect. It’s absolutely adorable! Sky also enjoys meeting new people, but can
initially get overstimulated with new experiences and will bark. It only takes a moment to calm
him down, but his bark can be a bit piercing. His other favourite thing is his brother Maverick
and they do need to be adopted together. Sky is the more independent and outgoing brother of
the two, but he does need to have Maverick in his sight at all times.

Although Sky is reactive to dogs out in the world, he does get used to them with a slow
introduction. Of course, it is best that the other dog is not reactive to Sky’s particular brand of
charm. He currently lives with canine and feline foster siblings without any issues and thus,
could be adopted into a home with a resident dog or cat (or both!). Sky also tends to get
spooked by loud noises, but recovers quickly once reassured. He can, however, be vocal when
someone comes to the door or when he hears another dog start to bark. He likes to join in to
show solidarity, even when he has no idea what he is barking at.

Sky is still a young pug and as such, still very much enjoys running around the yard, going for
walks and playing with toys. He is also very smart and learns routines quickly. Initially, he can be
slow or challenging to get to eat in new situations, but once he is more comfortable, he
becomes a good eater. And once he understands when meal times are and when he gets to go
outside, he will learn to anticipate it. He has also learned to use pet stairs in his foster home
and loves how easily he can get on and off the human beds!

If you are looking for a sweet, spunky boy (and his brother), then Sky is your guy!

FOSTER UPDATE - NOVEMBER 4, 2025

Sky continues to live up to his title as the resident cuddle bug 🤗 He loves snuggling close and insists on being right next to his foster mom on the big bed at night.

Like his brother, Sky barks when meeting new people…but it’s pure excitement, not nerves. The barking is becoming less frequent as he settles in and gains confidence 💕

He’s been “helping” with yard work too (minus the leaf pooping, thankfully 😅). Sky loves zooming around the yard and enjoying his freedom.

He has the cutest habit when asking for treats 🍪he reaches up gently with his paws, as if politely saying “please!” 🐾 Now that Sky is comfortable, he has become a great eater and is thriving on the novel protein food (kangaroo 🦘), which seems to be helping with their allergies.

FOSTER UPDATE - OCTOBER 3, 2025

Sky is doing wonderfully in foster care and continues to be his sweet, gentle self. He’s also on the new kangaroo diet 🦘 and seems much more comfortable. An oatmeal bath is planned this weekend to help even more!

He’s completely house-trained and loves being close to his people. At night, Sky sleeps across his foster mom’s legs before moving over to cuddle with Maverick. 💤 He has shown some mild separation anxiety, just a quick whimper when left alone, but soon settles down for a snooze.

Sky loves his walks (about 35 minutes) and, while sometimes reactive to other dogs, he’s easily redirected. At home, he’s playful and full of personality — he and Maverick have claimed the giant Sasquatch stuffy as their own, are crazy about their Lamb Chop toy, and even “borrowed” a running mouse toy from the cat. 🐭

He’s also learned the cat isn’t so scary after all! If the cat runs upstairs, Sky follows — but once the cat lies down, Sky just moves on with his day.

Sky was a star at his vet visit, charming everyone he met. He’s a loving, easygoing boy who adores people, stuffies, and cuddle time — the full pug package! 💖

INTRODUCTION - SEPTEMBER 15, 2025

Introducing Sky!

Say hello to Sky, a charming two-year-old fawn pug who has just arrived in rescue with his best friend, Maverick 🐶! It’s clear he came from a loving home ❤️, and we are grateful to their previous owner for entrusting them to us.

Sky is learning the ropes in his new foster home. He enjoys walking on the leash right next to Maverick and chasing the leaves 🍂. Sky is also proving to be a good little watchdog 👀, alerting his foster mom to any new sounds 🔔 and making sure everyone knows who’s around the house. He’s starting to feel more at home and has even met the resident cat 🐱.

There are no health concerns at this time, though Sky will be visiting the vet for a routine check-up once he has had more time to settle in. For now, he is safe, cared for, and surrounded with love as he begins this next chapter.

We’re excited to see Sky’s personality continue to shine as he settles in!
